Today we’re having a closer look at Turbine, from our Drift Collection. I’m working on my own Turbine, and so many of your have commented on it on social media, so this seems like a good time to mention more about the pattern.

It’s worked top down, starting with a really cool German twisted cast on (there’s a YouTube link in the pattern), which is followed by the yoke with twisted stitches. Anyone with a large bust like me will know how long yoke rows can get, but this hasn’t been too bad so far as the pattern has kept me interested enough to distract me from the long rows. Here’s a WIP photo:

As you can see, I’m using Whitfell DK in Steel. As I write this, there are only 19 X 50g balls left, but we have other lovely colours, and any similar DK will work. I would just make sure you pick something pretty plain otherwise those twisted stitches won’t show up too well.

Justyna’s original cardi, plus the one in our photos, are both knitted in Whitfell DK in Ebony. The stitch pattern shows up surprisingly well in this relatively dark colour.

Here are a few pics from our lovely location in Yorkshire. It was July when we took these photos, but it was so cold that I kept this cardigan on, along with a pair of fingerless mitts that we were also photographing. In fact, it got warmer in December than it was on this summer photoshoot. Welcome to British weather!
