Featured pattern: Swale

Swale (by the lovely Karie Westmann) is something you might need today.. On this cold, wet, grey November day, and big cosy shawl around the neck is just the ticket – I’m wearing my Worsted Boxy, but I find it leaves the back of my neck cold so I often wear shawls too. Today, it’s the red Swale shown in the photos below.

These photos were taken in summer, when a dress and shawl were warm enough to go out in! As you can see, this is a large and enveloping shawl. Worked in baby alpaca, it makes a good cardigan-substitute in the warmer months. 


Our shooting location was near Bolton Abbey, and what a contrast to today – it hardly seems long ago that it was lush and green. It’ll be a little more bleak there right now.
